The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on student learning, excellent communication skills, and an ability to build collaborative professional relationships. FLSA Status: Exempt General Definition of Work Performs difficult professional and administrative work developing and maintaining an effective educational program consistent with state and federal guidelines and the philosophy, policies and goals of the school board, and related work as required. Work is performed under the general direction of the Superintendent. Essential Functions The following functions are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties do not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position. Serves as the instructional leader at the PreK - 4th grade level through a variety of activities. Orients newly assigned staff members and assists with their development; develops master schedule and makes all teacher assignments. Establishes and maintains an effective system of communication with employees, students and community through programs and activities. Confers and collaborates with the appropriate school board personnel relating to high school programs. Delegates specific instructional and non-instructional responsibilities to appropriate individuals. Directs instructional improvement processes involving the staff. Evaluates professional employees and supervises the evaluation of classified employees. Provides leadership and direction in school-based staff development programs. Supervises the assignments for school personnel. Establishes guidelines for conduct and handles disciplinary problems as necessary, Complies with board policies and procedures Maintains accurate records and reports of financial dealings pertaining to the school. Supervises the preparation and maintenance of all school reports and records. Attends the extracurricular events held at the school or assigns as necessary. Serves on District, regional and State committees. Attends District wide meetings as required. Plans and supervises fire drills and an emergency preparedness and school safety and crisis management program, Performs other duties as apparent or assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Comprehensive knowledge of the practices, methods and techniques used in the administration and supervision of all facets of the high school administration; comprehensive knowledge of prescribed School Board policies and procedures. strong skills in oral and written communication; outstanding leadership and personal characteristics; ability to motivate others to reach their fullest potential; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, the School Board and the general public. Education and Experience Master's degree with coursework in education administration, or related field and considerable experience working as a teacher and moderate administration experience. Physical Requirements This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; worker is frequently standing, walking and speaking or hearing and occasionally requires sitting, using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions; work has no special vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work has no exposure to environmental conditions: work is generally in a quiet location (e.g. library, private offices).
