Assist staff, students, parents, and principal in organizational effectiveness and building operation. Responsible To: Principal and Director of Special Services Job Summary: * Provide leadership in the development and implementation of all tiers of MTSS * Teach a course to assist 8th grade students in academic preparedness and graduation course planning. * Conduct individual group and student academic intervention services and support student mental health and behavioral needs. * Curriculum development and implementation to support students' executive functioning skills in Tier 1-3 interventions. * Introduce and implement curriculum throughout the school year in whole-class instruction that exposes students to career exploration, self-awareness and reflection, as well as personal achievement analysis. * System level data collection and analysis for academic and behavior needs. * Initiate and maintain parent/guardian communication pertaining to individual student needs. * Implement best practice behavior management strategies and school climate strategies across the school system. * Support students and staff in unique and unanticipated circumstances. * Execute appropriate discipline, attendance, processes and procedures, such as restorative circles. * MCA and MAP testing oversite and coordination. * Assist in the creation of processes for communication within and outside the building. * Assist in the direction of Student Assistance Team, site leadership team, etc. * Work collaboratively with team members to support the academic, social and emotional growth of middle level learners. * Participate in regular PLC meetings as an active and engaged professional. * Establish and maintain high standards for character growth and development. Qualifications: * Current Minnesota Teaching/School teaching or counseling license required. * Mental Health-related license considered. * Principal's license considered. * Teacher's license considered. * Demonstrated skillsets in the following areas required: * Written and oral communication. * Conflict resolution. * Strategic leadership. * Leadership in difficult situations. * Professional interpersonal relationships. * Masters Degree preferred. * Experienced Academic Interventionist preferred. * Background in CharacterCounts!, restorative practices, MTSS, Responsive Classroom, Character Strong and/or systems intervention preferred. * Knowledge of District policies and procedures. * Demonstrated ability to utilize critical thinking in meaningful discourse professional conversations. * Demonstrated experience in collaboration and problem-solving. * Experience with curriculum and assessment design and data management preferred. * Understanding of the role of parent involvement and the ability to collaborate with parents. * Ability to use technology. Position:  Middle School - Academic Planning and Intervention Support Specialist

Position Purpose:   Provide leadership and coordination for the implementation and maintenance of District-wide and building-specific initiatives for all aspects of MTSS, academic/behavior intervention, and character.  Assist staff, students, parents, and principal in organizational effectiveness and building operation.

Responsible To:  Principal and Director of Special Services

Job Summary: 
  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of all tiers of MTSS
  • Teach a course to assist 8th grade students in academic preparedness and graduation course planning.
  • Conduct individual group and student academic intervention services and support student mental health and behavioral needs.
