ESSENTIAL DUTIES: * Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide effective teaching strategies while adhering to the district philosophy and vision. * Provide explicit instruction in the areas of math, reading, writing, social / emotional and behavioral skills. * Create a classroom environment that responds to the needs of individual learners. * Ability to create functional spaces for students that are welcoming yet highly structured and fit the needs of the student/s you are serving. * Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and clearly communicate expectations. * Utilize proactive behavior management techniques. * Reinforce positive behaviors, utilize de-escalation techniques, and redirect inappropriate behaviors. * Uses flexible thinking and adapt to student needs. * Provide instructional direction to paraprofessional support staff including creating and assigning activities, instructional oversight and providing general guidance. * Communicate with parents in a timely manner.
