Metro Schools College Prep is seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be hard-working, flexible, and have a passion for supporting our special education students.  Our school serves a diverse population, approximately 90% being English Language (EL) students, and 99% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. As such, we are looking for a teacher who is culturally responsive, holds high expectations for all students, and works hard to meet the unique needs of our students.

 

Responsibilities:

·       Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs

·       Provide instruction in various subjects, adapting teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each student

·       Utilize PBIS and restorative practices to support students with challenging behaviors

·       Collaborate with other educators, therapists, and support staff to create a comprehensive learning environment

·       Use learning technology and assistive devices to enhance student engagement and learning

·       Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed

·       Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes social-emotional development

·       Implement effective classroom management techniques to ensure a safe and productive learning environment
Develop and modify curriculum materials to meet the diverse needs of students

 

Qualifications:

·       Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Master's degree preferred)

·       MN teaching license in Special Education or the ability to obtain one

·       Experience working with children with special needs

·       Familiarity with PBIS, Restorative Practices and other behavior intervention approaches

·       Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities

·       Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues

·       Proficiency in using learning technology and assistive devices in the classroom
