Position: Lesson Deck Manager
Classification: Non Affiliated - Casual
Location: Aquatics Center
Salary: $25 - $30 per hour, depending on expereince
Hours: May 12 - August 8, 2025
May 12 - June 9 : planning meetings and staff training up to 15 hours total, (option to work Wednesday evenings 5:45 - 8:45 pm May 14- June 4)
June 9 - August 8, (No work June 30 -July 4). From 8:30 am - 1:00 p.m. (opportunity to add additional afternoon hours as needed
Monday - Thursday (Fridays reserved for make-up lessons if needed)
Reports to: Director of Community Education, Aquatics Coordinator
Education/Certification/Licensure Requirement:
* Age 18 or older, high school diploma or equivalent
* Experience working with groups of children
* Current Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and (preferred) Lifeguard Certification
* Current CPR and First Aid Certification
* Must maintain certifications during employment with the district
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Knowledge of stroke mechanics and ability to coach and instruct WSI staff how to teach strokes and lead lessons
* Knowledge and ability to implement and enforce established pool rules and emergency procedures
* Ability to work independently under limited supervision, and as part of a team
* Ability to work with supervisors and coworkers in a timely and professional manner
* Ability to provide a level of customer service that meets/exceeds customer expectations and satisfaction
* Ability to professionally exhibit cultural sensitivity, patience, and understanding in the course of work duties
* Ability to relate to and work with individuals representing a variety of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
Essential Skills Required to Perform
* Ability to problem solve, organize, and plan.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a high degree of flexibility are required.
* Demonstrated time management skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize work while paying attention to detail.

* Provide discipline or other interventions to students as directed by the Aquatics Coordinator.
* Supervises student check-in and check out ensuring students leave with authorized adults.
* Report any suspected child endangerment or abuse to the coordinator.
* Reports any hazards or safety concerns to the coordinator
* Provide work direction and supervision to WSI’s.
* Ensure quality swim lessons are being provided and proper techniques are being taught.
* Ensure parents/students receive a certificate of completion and skill checklist by the final lesson.
* Assign WSIs to particular classes
* Prepare lesson plans to correlate with participant level and level being taught.
* Maintain a professional appearance.
* Setup/put away equipment and maintain an organized pool environment.
* Enforce all established pool rules during and in-between lessons.
* Lead and implement established emergency procedures and respond appropriately in an emergency situation.
* Arrive on time (15 minutes prior to the start of lessons)
* Open and close the aquatics center when needed, operating alarm and locking/unlock doors.
* Find substitutes as needed and inform the aquatics coordinator
* Effectively communicate with parents, and/or participants, staff, and aquatics coordinator.
* Respond to parent concerns and problem-solve issues.
* Perform other related duties as assigned by the aquatics coordinator.
* Attend all required aquatics staff in-service training and meetings.
Machines, Tools, Equipment, Electronic Devices, and Software Required:
* Operate computer, printer, photocopy machine, iPad, and other electronic or technological equipment required for the specific position.
* Proficient in various software systems; Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Meets, Word, and Excel.
* Proficient in phone systems.
