Position Overview:
Byron High School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated STEM educator to join our high school faculty. This position involves teaching a combination of Intro to Engineering Design, Science 9, and Geometry. The ideal candidate is passionate about STEM education, skilled in cross-disciplinary instruction, and committed to fostering collaboration and problem-solving skills in students.
Key Responsibilities:
* Teach Intro to Engineering Design, an introductory course that explores the engineering design process, systems thinking, and foundational engineering concepts through hands-on projects.
* Teach Science 9, a foundational course that typically includes topics in physical science, earth science, and introductory chemistry, and depending on curriculum structure.
* Teach Geometry, helping students understand spatial relationships, logic, and problem-solving through mathematical reasoning.
* Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with state and national standards.
* Create a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, collaboration, and respect.
* Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technology to support diverse learning styles.
* Assess student performance through formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback.
* Maintain accurate and organized records of student progress, attendance, and grades.
* Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to support student success.
* Participate in school-wide professional development, departmental meetings, and extracurricular STEM activities as needed.
* Uphold school policies and contribute to a positive school culture.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Education, Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or a related field is preferred.
* Valid teaching certification in relevant subject areas or the ability to obtain one.
* Experience teaching high school students is preferred.
* Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
* Ability to create hands-on, inquiry-based, and project-based learning experiences.
* Passion for inspiring students in STEM fields.
