ROLE OBJECTIVES
The K-8 Building Substitute at STRIDE Academy will provide consistent, high-quality instruction across all grade levels and subjects in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. They will adapt quickly to various educational settings, maintain classroom management, and ensure the continuity of the academic program, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment for all students.
KEY DUTIES
Serve as a full-time substitute teacher working in various K-8 classrooms.
Assist with management of student behavior and discipline, primarily for students with disabilities.
Uses the classroom management plan consistent with an assigned teacher’s techniques and schoolwide standards.
Undergoes training in managing the behavior of students per IEP requirements.
Helps supervise students in all areas of the school including pick-up/drop-off, recess, lunch, etc.
Assists teachers with classroom instruction as assigned (individualized instruction, small groups, etc.)
Helps teachers accommodate all students with IEPs.
Communicates student needs to general and special education teachers when appropriate.
Provides performance measurements to classroom teaching mentor to help with student progress.
Potentially meets with parent/guardians to discuss students’ needs and progress.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in curriculum development to continuously improve the social studies program.
Collaborate with colleagues to integrate cross-curricular learning opportunities.
Engage in professional development and school community activities. Maintain a positive and inclusive school climate.
REQUIREMENTS
Educational Qualifications: BA
Skills and Competencies: Strong knowledge of content, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to engage and inspire students, and proficiency in using educational technology.
BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION
Salary Range: Starting salary of $43,000 or higher based on experience Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement, and professional development opportunities.
