Position: Director of Athletics and Activities Date: July 1, 2025 Department: Student Activities FLSA: Exempt Full-time: 1.0 FTE Supervisor: Principal Direct Reports: Associate Activities Director, Activities Interns, Coaches, Moderators, Athletic Trainer Provides Work Direction to: Site Supervisors, Region Workers, Volunteers Receives Work Direction from: Principal, President Purpose of Position: The Director of Student Activities is responsible for the administration and supervision of all DeLaSalle High School sanctioned athletic programs, athletic camps, fine arts programs, school clubs and activities. Ethical Standards: Employees of the DeLaSalle High School must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of DeLaSalle High School. Their personal behavior must not violate the faith, morals, or laws of the Church, nor can it embarrass the Church or give rise to scandal. Although specific positions may not require the employee to be of the Catholic faith, it is expected that all employees respect the Roman Catholic doctrine and religious practices. Reasonable accommodations for the religious practices of employees not of the Roman Catholic faith will similarly be provided. Representative Responsibilities: * Create, project, and maintain a professional image at all times, be present and ready for all scheduled work hours, and maintain a clean and professionally organized work area. * Provide excellent service and proactive problem resolution through appropriate and effective communication with families, students, and staff relating to any inquiry. * Resolve problems in recurring assignments in accordance with previous training and experience and seek supervisor provided suggestions for handling unusual or non-recurring issues. * Assist Supervisor with administrative support as needed and assigned. * Recruit, train, supervise and develop each coach, moderator and volunteer to ensure successful execution of all activity department responsibilities, including; 1. The complete and successful on/off-boarding of all Activities Department employees, volunteers, staff and contractors through collaborative facilitation with organizational HR functions. 2. Maintains all Activities Department personnel records including: annual CPR & AED certification; validation of licenses/certificates; accident & violation records and reports; professional coaching certifications/endorsements; safe and secure environment training and certification, and all other departmental documentation; 3. Plan and seasonally conduct orientations, workshops or other professional development opportunities for all Activities Department staff with special emphasis on program head coaches/moderators. * Provide leadership to and management of all Activities Department staff. Especially in the areas of professional improvement and development for the school&#8217;s coaches and moderators in assessing programs annually with a continuous improvement mindset by identifying program strengths, opportunities for improvement and by establishing goals for future program performance. * Oversight and management of the Activity Department budget through continuous monitoring, review and analysis of all department expenditures and revenues. 1. Proactively plan and engage supervisor in budget planning and review, as well as engagement with program coaches/moderators with special emphasis on continuous evaluation of the effectiveness and value of funding spent on Activity operations. 2. Additional oversight emphasis on salary, contracted service and ensuring the timely submission of records/forms/disbursements related to all Activities related operations. 3. Proactive and responsive management of activity program agency accounts including collaboration with school&#8217;s Advancement & Operations teams relating to all activity fundraising and revenue generation through sponsorship partnerships. * Responsible for ensuring the successful execution of all co-curricular activities within the organization, including: 1. Scheduling and planning for all athletic, fine art and activity based programming with regards to contest/matches/events, transportation coordination, equipment and supply procurement, and coordination and successful use of facilities. 2. Adherence to and enforcement of all governing body rules, by-laws and school policies and practices for all activity programs and participants. Maintain and advise improvements to school&#8217;s emergency response policies/procedures related to activities. 3. Management and supervision of all student body government activities i.e. Homecoming, Winterfest, pep fests, dances, blood drives and all community building events. 4. Secure, schedule and otherwise provide for all Activities Department programming both on school owned property and at third-party owned locations. i.e. secure use permits, rental contracts, certificates of insurance, etc. 5. Provide for successful game/event management, in part by: ensuring the successful delivery of concession operations, providing outstanding support to event staff, volunteers and officials; serve as the school&#8217;s representation to guests; and provide for the resolution of any customer service related matters. * Collaborate with the Communications Department to ensure the Activities section of the school website, as well as school communication portals such as Canvas and Remind, are being used properly and effectively. 1. Provide training to coaches on effective and appropriate use of school communication resources. * Represent the school and serve to advance its interests by serving as an active member in the school&#8217;s conference affiliation (Tri-Metro), the Minnesota State High School League, Region 6AA and the state&#8217;s Athletic Director&#8217;s organization. * Proactively provide guidance, advice and analysis to Supervisor and other school leadership on current and future co-curricular programming needs and trends. Serve to benefit the school&#8217;s strategic needs and evaluation of future activity and athletic programming possibilities. 1. Partner with the school's Admissions Team on to ensure successful execution of Admission events and their related Activities Department functions, including, but not limited to: oversight and facilitation of Activity Fair, presentation at Open Houses, and support for secondary school Admission events. * Encourage community participation in all Activities Department events. Other Responsibilities: Additional responsibilities identified as needed by the employer and approved and/or assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications: * BA or higher required. * Experience in scheduling, promoting, staffing and funding high school level activities programs. * Knowledge of the Minnesota State High School League Bylaws and Organization * Skilled in appropriate software to perform tasks as assigned (may include but not limited to database system management experience).
