Position Type: American Indian Language and Culture Teacher
Start Date: Aug 1, 2025
Description: The American Indian Language and Culture Teacher is responsible for developing lesson plans, conducting classroom instruction, evaluating and assessing student performance, interpreting student progress, and informing parents and guardians of student strengths, weaknesses, and progress within the language and culture classroom. Teachers will be required to develop and implement projects that connect to learning investigations as well as Minnesota state standards, through collaboration with classroom teachers. This teacher will teach students about American Indian language and culture.
Preferred Skills and Work Experience:
* General knowledge of MN history, specifically the Bemidji Area
General knowledge of American Indian history and culture
* Specific knowledge of local American Indian history, culture, and language
* General knowledge of serving special populations of learners
* Excellent communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
* Organizational and technology skills
* Effective oral and written communication skills
* Demonstrates good judgment; approachable and professional; solid problem solving skills; self-motivated; well organized
* College education/degree NOT required, MDE licensure will be a joint application between the school and the candidate!
