Position: ELA Teacher
School: Minnesota Math and Science Academy, St. Paul, MN
MInnesota Math and Science Academy is a K-12 public charter school located in St. Paul, Minnesota. MMSA is searching for an incredible teacher who wants to be a part of something special and strives to make a difference in the lives of our students. This position commences with the 2025-26 school year.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Candidate will be responsible for all assigned classroom duties and responsibilities, which will include: implementation of curriculum, assessing student progress, aligning assessment w/ instruction, responding to students w/ personalized learning opportunities, communicating with parents, managing the classroom, and working collaboratively with colleagues.
To create a flexible program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation in accordance with each student’s ability; to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.
Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter.
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
Use a variety of instructional strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, lecture, discovery, etc.
Translate lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
Establish and maintain student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students’ progress and interpret the school program.
Identify student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
Create an effective environment for learning.
Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by professional growth activities.
Qualifications:
Valid MN 5-12 ELA teaching license
Willingness to work with students with unique backgrounds and skills
