Position Purpose
Hiawatha Valley Education District is seeking a talented, driven Alternative Learning Center (ALC) Special Education Teacher. This program and ALC classroom will be within the HVED District Office, located in Winona, MN.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
* Develop and implement IEPs in accordance with federal, state, and district regulations.
* Provide direct instruction and interventions aligned with students' individual goals.
* Adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners.
* Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of performance and services.
* Conduct evaluations and assessments as part of the special education process.
* Collaborate regularly with general education teachers, support staff, administrators, and outside agencies.
* Support students' behavioral needs through proactive strategies, behavior intervention plans, and crisis intervention as necessary.
* Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to support student success.
* Maintain compliance with due process timelines and documentation requirements.
* Participate in staff meetings, IEP meetings, professional development, and other required activities.
