Position Overview: Cultural Liaison
Hours/Day: 1.0 FTE
Day/Year: 184 days per year
Compensation/benefits: Contract under negotiation
(Spanish Speaking) Cultural Liaison Primary responsibilities will include:
* Support student academic achievement, graduation goals, and post-secondary planning
* Facilitate and Support Student Affinity Groups
* Attend Student Advisory each week
* Be available to meet with students informally
* Participate in family outreach and connection to support students
* Instruct and guide students in cultural activities and events
* Collaborate with other Cultural Liaisons
The successful Cultural Liaison will be an individual who…

* personal professional learning and development through a strong understanding of literature related to best practices in the education of bilingual students and family outreach & communication
* understanding the needs of English Learners and their families

* coordination of stakeholder meetings including scheduling and facilitation meetings with parent advisory groups
* experience with planning large events and managing budgets
* success establishing and maintaining community stakeholders and partnerships with remarkable outcomes
* success in participating on district and regional committees
* the ability to effectively manage and lead change, including changing practices, structures in a school system that may perpetuate inequities based on race and class as seen
* outstanding skills in written and oral communication including contibutions to reports to the State Department of Education, and reporting to the district School Board
* effective facilitation and personal use of technology as a communication tool to improve student achievement and manage work
* the ability to manage dialogue effectively, valuing alternative points of view in planning and decision-making
* that they are a visible community representative
* courage to do what is best for students
