Park Rapids Area Schools is seeking a Licensed School Social Worker 1.0 FTE with a current MN DHS license in Social Work to serve students during the 2025-26 school year. Current MN licensure preferred or the ability to obtain MN licensure through PELSB. This position will support students at Century School and the High School with a focus to provide social work services to prekindergarten through grade 12 students while facilitating a successful education and interpret child specific needs for students of the Park Rapids School District by establishing positive relationships between parents, school and outside agencies.
Tasks involved in fulfilling above duty/responsibility:
* Establish communication between home, school and other agencies
* Interpret school policy and procedures to parents and outside agencies.
* Coordinate interventions between home, school and outside agencies.
* Become involved in crisis situations with the school.
* Investigate truancy/educational neglect problems.
* Mediate communication problems that may occur between parents and school.
* Facilitate reporting of suspected neglect and child abuse through designated channels.
* Cooperate in intervention plans with community agencies.
* Provide liaison between school and community service providers.
* Conference with teachers and District staff regarding individual student’s problems and needs.
* Consult with parents toward understanding of their role in adjustment of child and what they may do to help special needs of child within the home.
* Refer parents to relevant outside agencies for additional services for child and/or family.
* Attempt to resolve crisis behavior/emotional problems presented by students.
* Advise parents of their right regarding the services provided to their child by the school.
* Interpret to school personnel the specific needs of child due to his/her family social situations.
* Provide group work services at direction of Director of Special Education.
* Provide social history on children with special needs when necessary to develop special plan to meet that individual’s needs.
* Develop programs to further staff’s/student’s understanding of at-risk behavior.
* Meet with teachers and support staff to facilitate implementations of plans to address student needs.
