JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE:
Unique Aide
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Heritage Christian Academy Unique Aides are part of the Learning Resource team and are responsible for the safety and well being of children with special needs that may range from age 4-21. They work directly with the Varying Exceptionalities teacher to create a loving, peaceful environment in which students with special needs can thrive. Unique Aides supervise and interact with students in the VE class through formal and informal activities. Duties include, but are not limited to supporting the student in mainstream classes, supervision of recess and student activities; crafts, story time, games, basic first aid, behavior redirection and modification, discipleship, and positive communication with parents.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A salvation testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and desire to be in the ministry of Christian education at Heritage Christian Academy. A high school diploma is required, but a bachelor’s degree is preferred. Training that includes teaching and/or any equivalent combination of related education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential job functions. Training will be provided.

ABILITIES:
Requires adhering to school policy, rules, and regulations

Attitude of “do what is needed to get the job done”
Time management skills
Must be able to lift 40 lbs
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES also include:
Provide one-on-one support and care of students throughout the day
Assist with behavior management
Provide prayer and Godly counsel to hurting students
Escort children to and from classes, restroom, health office, and office as needed
Monitor students on the playground, at recess, and at lunchtime
Provide support when physical limitations require assistance (bathroom, mobility) (training would be provided).
Wipe tables/chairs, and sweep floor
Worship and attend chapel with your class
Assist in observing and assess the ability of each student
Notify teacher of student behavior or academic skills, as needed
Act as a substitute teacher or office assistant as requested by administration
Serve under administrative direction as need arises
Other tasks as assigned by the teacher
WORK SCHEDULE:
Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m.-3:00/3:30 p.m.
Part time (35 hours/week); however, may be required to work an evening or weekend day to attend a HCA event, or assist with a special project or in an circumstantial emergency affecting the school facilities.

Elementary School Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Days of employment follow the school calendar
Hourly Wage: $18 per hour
