This particular job posting reflects the duties and responsibilities of the School Psychologist for both sites (Farmington and Eagan) of Great Oaks Academy. The School Psychologist is responsible for providing a full range of psychological services to support the academic and behavioral competence of students (kindergarten through 9th grade, and beyond as the school continues to grow to 12th grade), as well as support parents and staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Participate in design, implementation and evaluation of early interventions with children experiencing academic and behavioral difficulty.
* Administer standardized tests to determine cognitive functioning and academic skill.
* Assess students’ social/emotional and behavioral needs through observation, student interview and standardized scales.
* Assess adaptive behavior through teacher and parent interview and administration of standardized scales.
* Consult with mainstream and special education teachers regarding individual students.
* Provide professional development to staff, as requested.
* Establish and maintain contact with parents/guardians as needed.
* Provide short-term consultation and/or support for students not identified as needing special education services.
* Consult with and collaborate with instructional staff , parents/guardians, community and other professionals in addressing student concerns, making appropriate referrals to address problems.
* Attend training sessions, conferences, seminars, district and departmental meetings.
* Normal and regular attendance.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None
Required Education, License, Experience and Skills:
* Completion of a graduate program in school psychology
* Valid Minnesota School Psychologist License
* Demonstrated knowledge of tools and strategies to evaluate student strengths and barriers to their education, and to assist students in overcoming those barriers
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, students, teachers, staff, administrators, agency personnel and others.
* Must be self-motivated, self-directed, collaborative and flexible.
* Must clear pre-employment background check and substance abuse screening.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Previous special education/school psychologist experience.
* Classical Education experience.
Physical Requirements:
* Must be able to operate a computer, copier, printer, fax and phone.
* Must be able to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, balance, stoop, sit on the floor, kneel and lift 50 pounds.
