Head Start Family Education Specialist (Teacher) - Elbow Lake West Central MN Communities Action

What You’ll Do:
As a Family Education Specialist, you will:
* Lead and inspire a classroom team serving children ages 3–5 in a nurturing, educational environment.
* Build strong relationships with families to support learning, growth, and access to community resources.
* Champion family involvement in Head Start programs, including program governance and parent committees.
* Coach and mentor teaching staff and volunteers, helping shape the next generation of educators.
* Advocate for children and families by connecting them with services that enhance overall quality of life.
Key Responsibilities Include:
* Create and implement individualized learning plans based on child development data.
* Supervise and coach Assistant Teachers, Substitutes, and Classroom Volunteers.
* Facilitate home visits and parent-teacher interactions to foster deeper family engagement.
* Organize and lead parent meetings and elections for the Head Start Policy Council.
* Oversee center operations, ensuring safety, compliance, and collaboration with community partners.
* Act as a site director and team leader for your center.
* Support families with goal-setting, resource navigation, and educational planning.
Minimum Requirements:
* BA/BS or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood licensure (MN).
* 1–3 years of experience working with preschool-aged children.
* Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
* Must be 18+ with a valid driver’s license and current insurance.
* Head Start Performance Standards require fingerprinted background checks.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Previous leadership or supervisory experience in education or human services.
* Familiarity with Head Start programs.
* Experience working with children with disabilities and families from diverse backgrounds.
