Contract Length: 260 Days (12 months) Position Overview: The Activities Director/Community Education Director is a 12-month leadership position responsible for organizing, managing, and supporting all extracurricular activities, athletic programs, and community education efforts within the district. This role ensures the delivery of quality programs in alignment with the values of Cleveland Public Schools and state requirements. The position also includes responsibility for the maintenance of athletic fields and district-owned grounds, ensuring a safe, functional, and inviting environment for students and the community. Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor&#8217;s degree required; Master&#8217;s preferred in Education, Sports Management, Leadership, or related field. * Valid Minnesota teaching or administrative license preferred. * Minimum three years of experience in education, coaching, activities administration, or related leadership roles. * Familiarity with Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) policies and procedures. * Experience in community education programming and event planning is preferred. * Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills. * Ability to work evenings and weekends as required. * Physically able to assist with field and facility maintenance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: General Leadership and Oversight * Follows and maintains knowledge of all district policies, procedures, and MSHSL regulations. * Serves as a liaison between students, parents, coaches/advisors, teachers, administration, and external organizations (conference, section, region). * Attends regular administrative and conference meetings as required. * Maintains consistent, professional communication with all stakeholders. Activities & Athletics Oversight * Supervises, directs, and evaluates all coaches and activity advisors. * Directs coaches in managing inventory and maintaining an up-to-date master inventory list for each activity. * Maintains proper records for each activity including required MSHSL and district documentation for athletes and coaches. * Manages all athletic and activity events including scheduling, transportation, set-up, supervision, and clean-up. * Hires officials and game workers; ensure proper staffing at events. * Ensures compliance with all medical, safety, and eligibility requirements for participation, in accordance with district and MSHSL guidelines. * Supports and enforces student eligibility standards; advocates for student-athletes while holding them accountable academically. * Coordinates with the Athletic Committee to hire and evaluate coaches. * Provides supervision and a safe environment for all student participants at events and practices. Community Education Management * Designs and implements engaging, inclusive programming for early childhood, youth, adults, and senior learners. * Collaborates with staff and community members to assess needs and develop course offerings. * Manages registration, communication, staffing, and logistics for all community education programs. * Prepares and monitors the community education budget and seeks grant opportunities where appropriate. Facilities and Grounds Maintenance * Maintains all athletic game and practice facilities, ensuring they are safe, clean, and ready for use. * Oversees preparation of fields and facilities for practices and competitions. * Coordinates with custodial/maintenance staff for upkeep and improvements. * Performs light field maintenance tasks including mowing, lining fields, and minor repairs. * Responsible for maintenance of all school-owned grounds throughout the year. Working Conditions: * Year-round, full-time position with flexible hours including nights and weekends. * Indoor and outdoor work in varied weather conditions. * Some physical labor is required in field maintenance and event preparation. Evaluation: Performance is evaluated annually by the Superintendent in accordance with district policy.
