The mission of Gateway STEM Academy is to prepare a diverse community of K–8
students for academic success by providing an enriching, focused learning environment
in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Our goal is to emphasize the use
of technology and STEM learning to maximize individual potential and ensure students
achieve academic and career success. We are committed to delivering a high-quality
academic experience in a 21st-century learning environment that improves student

School Overview
Gateway STEM Academy is a public charter school located at 12119 16th Ave S,
Burnsville, MN 55337. We are currently seeking a dynamic and visionary Executive
Director to lead our school in fulfilling its mission.
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience working with students and families from diverse cultural and
socioeconomic backgrounds.
● Deep knowledge of charter school governance and operations in Minnesota.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership and Vision
● Develop and implement the strategic vision and goals for the school.
● Provide inspirational leadership that promotes academic excellence and
operational effectiveness.
● Foster a positive, inclusive school culture aligned with the school’s mission and
values.
Governance and Board Relations
● Collaborate with the Board of Directors to set policy and strategic direction.
● Provide regular reports on school performance, including academic and
operational updates.
● Ensure effective communication and transparency between the board and
administration.
Academic and Program Oversight
● Ensure rigorous, standards-aligned academic programs.
● Oversee curriculum implementation and monitor student performance.
● Promote innovative teaching practices and continuous improvement.
Operational and Facilities Management
● Manage day-to-day operations to ensure compliance with local, state, and
federal regulations.
● Coordinate student enrollment, transportation, scheduling, and vendor relations.
● Oversee maintenance and development of school facilities.
Staff Leadership and Development
● Recruit, hire, and support high-quality staff and school leaders.
● Conduct teacher observations and provide coaching and professional
development.
● Promote a collaborative, supportive work environment.
Financial Oversight
● Collaborate with the Business Manager to develop and manage the school’s
budget.
● Ensure fiscal responsibility and resource allocation aligned with strategic
priorities.
● Pursue additional funding opportunities through grants and partnerships.
Family and Community Engagement
● Build strong relationships with families, community members, and local
organizations.
● Ensure effective communication with stakeholders about school progress and
initiatives.
● Represent the school in public events and forums.
Compliance and Accountability
● Ensure full compliance with state, federal, and authorizer requirements.
● Lead school improvement efforts using data-driven practices.
● Oversee charter renewal, Title I, and other regulatory reporting.
Policy and Advocacy
● Advocate for policies that support charter school success at the state and local
levels.
● Stay informed about legislation, research, and best practices in education.
Student and Staff Support
● Maintain a safe, inclusive school environment.
● Oversee student supervision, discipline, and behavior management systems.
● Support staff in creating responsive, equitable classroom practices.
Licensure and Education Requirements
● A Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field
(required).
● A valid K–12 Administrative License issued by the Minnesota Professional
Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB).
● A valid Minnesota teaching license or completion of a school administration
certificate from an accredited institution.
Additional Qualifications
● Minimum of 2 years of successful school leadership experience.
● Proven track record of improving student achievement and instructional quality.
● Strong background in teacher development, curriculum, and data analysis.
● Experience working in or leading a charter school is preferred.
● Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
● Ability to lead strategic planning and drive systemic change.
