Hiawatha Valley Education District is seeking a talented, driven Behavior Interventionist for our ESY program at SAIL. This program will meet for a total of 15 days:
* June 16 - 18
* June 23 - 26
* July 7 - 10
* July 14 - 17
HOURS: 8:00 am - 1:30 pm
Qualifications:
* The Education District requires an applicant to have a PELSB License, preferably in one or more of the following areas of licensure:
* Licensed Special Education Teacher, preferably in Emotional or Behavior Disorders (EBD), Licensed School Psychologist, Licensed School Counselor, Board Certification Behavior Analyst (BCBA), School Social Worker, or School Counselor.
* Experience in child behavior and intervention experience required.
* Must have a valid driver’s license to travel between HVED programs and member school district(s).
Competencies:
* Must be able to work in or lead team decision-making situations
* Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
* Must possess ability to problem-solve
* Must possess ability to coordinate with others and lead teams when necessary
* Knowledgeable in interpreting and supporting Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs)
* Familiar with PBSP (Positive Behavior Support Plan) and BIPs (Behavior Intervention plans)
Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
* Provide on-site coaching and support for the implementation of evidence-based instructional practices across the secondary and tertiary prevention levels within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework.
* Collaborate with the Behavior Intervention Team, School Psychologists, Special Education Coordinators, and school teams to develop evaluation plans that equip teams to identify students with intensive social, emotional, or behavioral needs.
* Collaborate with school teams to assist in conducting and writing an Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) accompanied by an individualized Positive Behavior Support Plan (PBSP) or Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP).
* Support staff in the development of IEPs that are designed to meet the unique SEL needs of students.
* Support staff in the development and implementation of appropriate behavior programming (including instructional strategies, data collection and interpretation, and resources) that align to specific behavioral and SEL skills identified in IEP goals.
* Promote collaboration between general education and special education staff regarding accommodations and modifications that may help students to reach their social, emotional, and/or behavioral IEP goals and access the general curriculum.
* Ensure processes are being followed that support district placement decisions for students transitioning to and from Federal Setting III and IV programs to ensure that students remain in their least restrictive environment.
* Assist in developing student reintegration plans, including PBSPs or BIPs, to increase the likelihood that transitioning students will function effectively in the mainstream school setting.
* Collaborate with school staff to develop PBSPs or BIPs for students with emotional and/or behavioral needs.
* Engage in professional learning aligned with HVED goals and district-specific needs to inform HVED professional learning opportunities related to SEL programming and evidenced-based behavior interventions.
* Facilitate professional learning using effective adult learning strategies on a variety of SEL-related topics.
* Oversee training and certification of staff in the use of restrictive procedures and de-escalation techniques.
* Provide on-site coaching and support to enhance implementation of best practices in SEL.
* Stay up to date on local and county services and supports available to the districts we serve.
* Support schools with implementation of best practices in SEL-related assessment, instruction, inclusion, accessibility, and program evaluation.
* Assist in assessing needs of individual students or small groups to support various resource allocation and/or programming decisions.
* Share resource materials and equipment for SEL-related needs with HVED and member district staff.
* Support teams in planning for transitions of students with SEL-related needs between buildings (i.e., from elementary to secondary).
* Participate and/or facilitate HVED internal meetings and workgroups as assigned.
* Participate in interagency collaboration as appropriate to support the SEL-related needs of students and families.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
