FULL-TIME Social Studies TEACHER/COURSE DEVELOPER – BEGINS AUGUST 2025
The mission of MNOHS is to engage, inspire, and educate the whole student for an options-rich future through a challenging, flexible, teacher-developed curriculum; with the encouragement of responsive faculty and staff; within a creative, equitable and supportive learning community. A small, teacher-powered online public charter school, MNOHS is an award-winning collaborative environment for board, faculty, staff, students and families across Minnesota and a credible voice for creative, connected online learning.
We are accepting applications for a full-time high school Social Studies teacher. MNOHS teachers usually work from home. Our core hours are 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. M-F, during which time full-time staff are required to be online and available for synchronous meetings. Other hours to create a 40-hour work week are flexible and required to be documented on a schedule to be approved by the Executive Director and the Academic Director. Being a resident of the state of Minnesota is a requirement of this position. Attendance at our annual graduation and related activities the second Saturday/weekend in June is required.

Responsibilities:

Complete Teaching Online, the MNOHS training course, and participate in ongoing online professional development
*
Collaborate with students, families, and faculty/staff in a highly interactive online environment (synchronous and asynchronous) to create a collaborative school community and culture of engagement
*
Develop and/or revise synchronous and asynchronous online learning activities, and assessments (specific course assignments TBD)
Qualifications:
*
Minnesota teacher’s license in Social Studies (secondary level)
*
Thorough knowledge of social studies content, resources, pedagogy, and assessment
*
Excellent communication, teaching, collaboration and strategic skills
*
Experience using asynchronous and synchronous communication tools and productivity software in a professional setting
*
Interest in online and alternative learning environments
*
(Preferred) Experience collaborating with Special Education staff
*
(Preferred) Experience as an online student or developing online learning activities or curriculum
