Job Summary Under the guidance of the building principal, the Licensed Teacher is responsible for providing quality instruction in science and social studies to 5th-grade students. Responsibilities include: * Developing and delivering engaging, grade-level appropriate lesson plans aligned with district and state standards. * Evaluating student progress and adjusting instruction to meet academic needs. * Collaborating with other staff, parents, and community members to support student learning and school goals. Assignment: Certified Essential Functions * Delivers instruction to 5th-grade students in science and social studies, using effective teaching strategies and district-approved curriculum. * Provides lessons that meet diverse learning needs, adjusting as necessary for student understanding and performance. * Regularly assesses student learning and uses data to guide instructional decisions. * Creates and maintains a safe, structured, and respectful classroom environment. * Develops instructional materials and plans hands-on activities, experiments, and discussions to enhance student engagement. * Maintains classroom organization, performs basic housekeeping, and ensures a positive learning space. * Tracks and evaluates student performance; prepares and shares feedback with students and families. * Manages student behavior and communicates expectations clearly to support a productive classroom climate. * Provides direction to paraprofessionals in the classroom, assigning tasks and offering guidance as needed. * Participates in school and district meetings, committees, and IEPs as applicable. * Engages in ongoing professional development to stay current with instructional strategies and standards. * Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Understanding of instructional methods, child development, and subject-area content in science and social studies. * Familiarity with assessment practices and classroom technology. * Ability to develop and deliver effective, engaging lesson plans. * Strong classroom management and communication skills. * Proficiency in collaborating with staff, students, and families. * Ability to support student learning across various abilities and backgrounds. * Skill in maintaining accurate records and meeting deadlines. Supervision of Other Employees: This position does not directly supervise other employees but may provide guidance to assigned paraprofessionals in the classroom.
