Job Description: Faribault Public Schools Adult Education is seeking a part-time adult education instructor to work with our amazing students at the Faribault Education Center. This position follows the district calendar, with optional summer hours available. The hours for this position are flexible and based on the selected candidate's preferences and availability; but must operate Monday - Thursday between the hours of 8:30 am - 5:30 pm (approximately 6-19 hours per week).
Essential Functions:
* Align instruction to meet students' goals and needs
* Assess student progress with TABE assessments and GED practice tests
* Assign study materials to each individual based on their goals and plan
* Use appropriate techniques for individual learning styles
* Build relationships with students and find ways to motivate each individual to reach their full potential
* Keep accurate records and student attendance
* Participate in staff meetings, instructional collaborative time, & professional development
* Manage classroom and open learning labs to facilitate learning and retention of students
* Maintain levels of training criteria established by the Minnesota Department of Education
Minimum Requirements:
* Strong digital literacy and computer skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to supervise and work well with others
* Ability to assume initiative in problem solving
* Excellent organizational skills
* Excellent record keeping skills
* Ability to manage time and responsibilities
* Demonstrated history of racial equity work and focus on increasing racial awareness
* Bachelor Degree in Education and current Minnesota Teaching License (a district-sponsored Tier 1 License may be obtainable)
* Masters in TESOL preferred
Preferred Education and Experience:
* Fluent in Spanish or Somali.
* Experience teaching adult ABE, GED, HiSET, and college preparation courses
Compensation and Benefits:
* Pay rate for licensed teachers is $32.31 per hour
