Behavioral Specialist/Interventionist
1.0 FTE- New London-Spicer Prairie Woods Elementary School
ADSIS position
General Definition of Work
Utilizes evidence-based practices to implement behavior interventions that support student development and academic success. Provides a wide range of instructional and support services aimed at helping students build the skills, attitudes, and knowledge necessary for academic achievement and long-term success in college and careers. This role aligns with ADSIS (Alternative Delivery of Specialized Instructional Services) requirements and operates under the limited supervision of the Principal.
Qualification Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Essential Functions
* Prepares, plans, and delivers interventions for behavior/academic success.
* Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers regarding common assessments, interventions and strategies based on needs of students.
* Coordinates and leads data collection.
* Participates in regular Professional Learning Teams meetings as an active and engaged professional.
* Provides school-wide training related to interventions, behavior strategies, MTSS, etc.
* Participates in our building’s Student Intervention Teams and follows through on behavior/academic interventions with students.
* Establishes behavior plans and manages student behaviors in order to maintain a safe and productive learning environment.
* Attends staff and committee meetings as required.
* Evaluates and monitors students' academic, attendance, behavioral, and social growth, maintains appropriate records, prepares progress reports; submits all documents in a timely manner; attends Parent meetings.
* Maintains professional competence through attendance at workshops and sessions designed to fulfill Continuing Education Units.
* Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Thorough knowledge of District curriculums and Minnesota State Standards
* Comprehensive knowledge of curriculum tools, communication software, and Infinite Campus
* Thorough knowledge of assessment reports and Sabers testing
* General knowledge of academic reports
* Thorough knowledge of standard office equipment and software to include iPads, Chromebooks, and other technology tools
* Ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
* Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages
* Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers, students, parents, and elected officials
Education and Experience
Behavioral Specialist/Interventionist or Teacher Licensure
Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing, frequently requires standing, walking, and sitting and occasionally requires using hands to handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions; work requires close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment and exposure to bodily fluids; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
Pay: $48,174 - $84,000 annually
