Assignment Location: Benton-Stearns Education District
Anticipated Start Date: August 2024
Salary: Salary ranges from $48,819 - $98,015. Placement is per the EdMN Benton-Stearns Master Agreement and is based on education and experience
Other Compensation: Paid professional development opportunities, health insurance, paid time off

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Benton-Stearns Education District is seeking a School Social Worker to support special education programming. The candidate will work with the special education team to develop intervention strategies for students that struggle with mental health and behavioral issues. The candidate will be expected to communicate effectively with parents, students, outside service providers, and members of the BSED team.
Candidates will have a clear understanding of:
● The impact of student’s disabilities
● The impact of family dynamics on student’s behavior
● Trauma Informed Practices
● Mindfulness practices in schools
● The impact of chemical use on mental health
Benton-Stearns is looking for a candidate with strong interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills. The position will meet with students individually and teach social skills to small groups of students. They will assist the team in
assessment of needs and developing emotional/ behavioral programming. Candidates will provide consultation to the team regarding mental health concerns and how they affect learning. They will also work with administration to provide staff in-service training throughout the school year.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree preferred
Minnesota Department of Education School Social Worker License
ABOUT US:
At Benton Stearns, we serve students from our 6 member districts of: Foley, Holdingford, Kimball, ROCORI, Sartell-St. Stephen, and Sauk Rapids-Rice. Students in our programs have been referred to us by their home districts due to needing extra support not available in the general education setting. Our programs support students with a variety of disabilities and significant social, emotional, and academic learning challenges in grades kindergarten to twelve plus. During their time at Benton Stearns, students learn life, social, and academic skills with the goal of reintegrating back to their home schools. We are relationship based and use positive support to increase motivation and decrease unexpected behaviors. We offer small class sizes with low adult to student ratios.
