JOB GOAL: Working under the direction of the counselor or social worker and principal, the Behavior Support Assistant provides individualized, Tier III behavioral interventions for students who demonstrate significant challenges with self-regulation, peer interactions, or following school expectations. Primary duties include delivering one-on-one interventions, supporting implementation of individualized behavior plans, teaching targeted SEL skills, collecting and analyzing behavioral data, and collaborating closely with special education and general education staff. The goal is to help students acquire the tools they need to succeed in the school environment and reduce behaviors that interfere with learning. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Individual will work closely with the school counselor to assist in the following areas: * Deliver intensive, individualized behavioral interventions aligned with Tier III ADSIS guidelines. * Support executive functioning development, including time management, organization, and study habits. * Provide individualized and small-group social-emotional learning (SEL), pro-social behavioral and social skills programming instruction. * Offer structured sensory breaks and support regulatory tools based on student needs. * Collect and document behavior data consistently for progress monitoring and evaluation. * Participate in intervention planning meetings with ADSIS staff, teachers, and MTSS teams. * Maintain regular communication with teachers, families, and student support teams. * Implement behavior plans with fidelity and adjust support strategies under direction of interventionist or MTSS team. * Supervise and work directly with students to address inappropriate behaviors and help them adopt behaviors that will help them become more academically successful. * Process individual student behaviors/issues/concerns with students as needed. * Maintain and protect confidential information regarding students and programming. * Participate in student team and/or IEP meetings, as needed. * BAS may serve on site PBIS Team. PHYSICAL EFFORT: * Position involves light to moderate degree of physical stamina and occasional lifting up to 40 pounds. * Position involves sitting for a portion of time, but will involve standing, walking, and bending. * Position involves indoor and outdoor time with students SUPERVISION OF OTHER EMPLOYEES: This position does not include supervision of other employees.
