Position Overview
Status: Part-time, Seasonal (Winter sports season)
Required Skills: Oversee all aspects of the Marshall School dance program within the bylaws of the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) and in line with the mission statement of Marshall School.
Develop a team culture that reflects Marshall’s mission and core values– this includes, but is not limited to, ethical behavior in the sport of dance, and being a role model looking to make a positive difference in young people’s lives by displaying compassion and respect for our student-athletes. Bachelor’s degree preferred with 1-3 years coaching experience at the high school level or above, or having 1-3 years of experience teaching studio dance.
Excellent verbal communication skills; Able to teach individual dance performance and team concepts, motivate individual dancers and teams to perform at their highest level; Strong organizational skills; Ability to perform multiple tasks and changing priorities without losing focus.
Job Description: The new Duluth Marshall Dance coach will be responsible for leading and developing a dynamic and inclusive dance program that supports students at all skill levels. The coach fosters an environment of encouragement, teamwork, and personal growth while teaching proper technique, choreography, performance skills, music selection, costuming, hiring a coaching staff, scheduling practices and competitions, monitoring a budget, etc. are all required aspects of the Marshall dance coach’s responsibilities.
This position is a seasonal, part time stipend position. The stipend is $3000/season.
