Elementary Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Teacher

Mankato Area Public Schools is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and student-centered Elementary STEM Teacher to deliver engaging instruction in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) to students in grades K–5. STEM is taught as a 50-minute “special” once a week to all students across our elementary buildings. This position is ideal for an educator with a passion for hands-on, project-based learning and a desire to spark curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving in young learners. The successful candidate will provide instruction aligned with Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Launch curriculum and will be a vital member of a collaborative and forward-thinking instructional team. This is a full-time (1.00 FTEs) position beginning August 2025.
Summary of Duties:
* Design and implement high-quality STEM lessons for K–5 students in a rotating specialist model.
* Provide instruction in areas including, but not limited to:
* Coding
* Robotics
* Engineering Design Processes
* Problem- and Project-Based Learning
* Utilize and deliver Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Launch curriculum with fidelity; become PLTW certified (training provided if needed)
* Foster student engagement through creative and innovative teaching practices.
* Promote 21st-century skills including critical thinking, collaboration, and communication.
* Monitor and report student progress each semester.
* Collaborate with school leaders, instructional technology teams, and fellow specialists to ensure program quality and alignment
* Support and maintain STEM classroom materials and equipment.
Qualifications Required:
* Valid Minnesota teaching license in Elementary Education (K–6)
* Experience working with elementary-aged students in an instructional setting.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills.
* Knowledge of or experience with integrating technology in the classroom
Preferred Qualifications:
* STEM or Computer Science endorsement or certificate.
* Previous training or experience with Project Lead the Way (PLTW).
* Experience in project-based learning environments.
* Familiarity with G-Suite for Education and interactive classroom technology.
* Three or more years of successful teaching experience.
Salary Range:
$49,591 - $88,577 (based on the MTA salary schedule).
