The Pine River-Backus School District is seeking a non-certified Activities Director/Youth Sports Coordinator to begin with the 2025-26 school year. Qualified candidates should possess strong organization and communication skills along with a knowledge of High School sports and activities. A teaching license is not required. This position will work 210 days during the year with a flexible schedule. Some evening and weekend hours will be required. Hourly wage between $27-$35 depending upon qualifications and experience. Benefits include group health and life insurance, paid sick leave and vacation, and a state pension plan. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
Job Summary: Coordinate, implement and facilitiate all aspects of the activities programs relevant to students at the high school, middle school and elementary.
Major Areas of Accountability:
* Program Planning
* Organizes and schedules all coaches/advisors and activities workers.
* Organizes and schedules all extra-curricular and youth sports activities.
* Organizes and manages all games and tournaments at the district, conference and regional level that are hosted by the Pine River-Backus School District.
* Arranges appropriate facilities, transportation and maintenance needs of all extra-curricular and youth sports groups.
* Distribute and enter youth sports registration forms and collect fees.
* Organizes and administers extra-curricular awards programs.
* Ensures training is provided to all event workers.
* Responsible for arranging supervision for home extra-curricular and youth sports activities, ensuring supervisors are trainied in district protocol.
* Communication
* Responsible for publicity, parent information and encouraging student participation in the extra-curricular and youth sports programs.
* Organizes coaches/adviors meetings and distributes information relevant to these staff members.
* Attends meetings and serves on committees that further activities, as well as, participating in applicable workshops and clinics.
* Works with all school staff keeping all concerned informed of everyday events, as well as, working to improve student behavior.
* Eligibility/Discipline
* Administer Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) eligibility requirements, as well as, local academic and other eligibility requirements.
* Responsible for ensuring all student physical forms, sports fees and parental permission slips are obtained.
* Interprets and decides disciplinary codes as related to students participating in all activities.
* Assist coaches/advisors with needs or problems within their activity.
* Handles student, coach and advisor discipline issues as necessary.
* Budget
* Recommend the selection and replacement of coaches/advisors, as well as make evaluations.
* Work with Business Manager and Community Education Director in developing activities and youth sports budget.
* Inventory equipment and supplies.
* Monitor expenditures and allocations.
* Order/approve purchase of activities equipment and supplies.
* Approve fundraising events.
Physical Involvement:
* Various physical movements.
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Mental Involvement:
* Ability to plan, organize and delegate responsibilities to subordinates while maintaining quality standards throughout one's own performance.
* Ability to analyze situations and select a course of action.
* Capable of multi-tasking.
* Ability to accept change and respond appropriately.
* Ability to work independently and make decisions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
* High school diploma or equivalent required.
* Post secondary degree preferred.
Experience:
* Previous athletic director or youth sports coordinator experience is preferred but not required. Varsity coach experience preferred.
