ELEMENTARY MUSIC and BAND/ORCHESTRA TEACHER (PT) - Ridgeway Community School Ridgeway Community School is seeking a qualified individual to serve as the school&#8217;s part-time classroom music teacher. Additional hours teaching elementary band or orchestra instrument lessons to 4th and 5th grade students are also available for a total of .6 FTE. The opportunity to teach private piano lessons after school hours is available. Ridgeway Community School is a free, K-5 public charter school serving approximately 120 students from preschool to 5th grade. During the 2025-26 school year, Ridgeway Community School will celebrate 25 years of serving children and families in Southeast Minnesota. Applicants must be eager to participate fully in a vibrant, teacher-led school that serves students of all abilities in an inclusive, multi-age learning environment. The school is conveniently located 15 minutes south of Winona, Minnesota, and 30 minutes west of La Crosse, Wisconsin, just two miles east of the intersection of MN Hwy 76 and Interstate 90. Ridgeway&#8217;s current music schedule has six thirty-minute music classes on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings between 8:00 and 11:15 a.m. Beginning band instrument and group band classes have been held Tuesdays through Thursdays afternoons. Additional hours as a band or orchestra instrument instructor are available, with a preference given to applicants who can teach beginning band instruments. Additionally, there is the possibility of teaching private piano, voice, or other instrument lessons after school dismisses at 2:15 p.m. This schedule allows the music teacher to take on additional employment as a substitute teacher at Ridgeway or other area schools on Mondays and Fridays. Ridgeway has enjoyed and desires to continue a strong elementary music program. The students typically perform both a winter and spring concert as well as a song at the school's annual Grandparents Day and Veterans Day programs. The 4th- and 5th-grade students have become proficient on band instruments, enabling them to participate in ensemble groups. Licensure and Certification: Educational staff must hold a current license appropriate to their position, and it is their responsibility to keep current the licenses and certifications necessary to fulfill the duties they have been assigned to perform. Employee Health Insurance: The school currently does not offer health insurance or a medical plan to any of its employees. However, employees working over 30 hours per week are eligible for an additional. $3,000 cash-in-lieu-of-benefits. Sick or Personal Paid Days: This position, working 20 or more hours per week during the school year, is entitled to nine sick or personal paid days per year and will become eligible for sick or personal paid days when they start working their scheduled position. Holiday Pay: This position, working 20 or more hours a week for a full school year at the school, receives 6 paid holidays. Retirement Plans: The school is a public school, and all licensed personnel are required to contribute to the State Teachers Retirement Association (TRA). This plan is an employee and employer contribution plan based on the current rates allocated by TRA. Criminal History Report: A criminal history report is required, which the school pays for. No drug test is required, but a drug policy is in place.
