Position Overview
This position will work in collaboration to design engaging learning experiences for our emergent multilingual population, including large and small group lessons. Our school has an amazing population of diverse learners, with wide-ranging skills. We are looking for teachers who can create personalized and engaging experiences so that each student feels valued, inspired and has a sense of belonging.
Position Purpose
The purpose of this position is to develop students' skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing in addition to foster communication skills in English. This position works in collaboration with classroom teachers in both large and small group lessons for our emergent multilingual students. We are a Dual Language Immersion school and strongly prefer bilingual (Spanish/English) candidates who can design lessons that foster and bridge both languages.

Primary Responsibilities
A successful ESL teacher at Woodcrest Spanish Immersion Elementary School:
* Develops and administers ELL education curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
* Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to personalized learning and small group instruction, and student learning.
* Develops unit plans and instructional materials and translates unit and trimester plans into learning experiences that challenge each student, and incorporates flexible use of time, space and resources.
* Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs.
* Effectively assesses and communicates each students progress in their learning with the student and their parent(s)/guardian(s).
* Works collaboratively with colleagues to ensure each student is known by name, strength, interest and need and this information is harnessed to ensure each student experiences success and graduates with post secondary plans.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must have earned a B.A. or B.S. degree or higher. Candidate must possess highly effective interpersonal skills and the ability work harmoniously with a wide range of students, families, and staff members. Additional demonstrated qualifications include: commitment to the equitable education of all students; creative planning and organizational skills, and experience working with and celebrating diverse learners. Being bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred for this position.
Licensing Requirements
Current Minnesota K-12 ESL licensure or K-6 Elementary Education licensure, or eligibility, required.
