Job Summary
The Community School of Excellence is seeking an innovative and dynamic teacher to design and lead a hands-on, inquiry-driven science class for 3rd and 4th grade students. This course provides a unique opportunity to create an engaging learning experience that inspires curiosity, problem-solving, and out-of-the-box thinking. The teacher will have flexibility with curriculum design, encouraging creativity and student-led discovery while maintaining alignment with science standards. This position is more than just teaching science—it’s about creating a classroom experience students will never forget. With flexibility in curriculum design and an emphasis on hands-on learning, this teacher has the opportunity to inspire wonder, creativity, and a lifelong love of science.
Responsibilities
* Develop and teach engaging, hands-on science lessons for 3rd and 4th grade students.
* Create an environment that promotes exploration, experimentation, and curiosity.
* Incorporate project-based learning, STEAM activities, and real-world problem solving.
* Design lessons that integrate critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity.
* Provide opportunities for students to learn through inquiry, investigation, and reflection.
* Collaborate with grade-level teachers to align learning goals and support cross-curricular connections.
* Foster a classroom culture that emphasizes respect, teamwork, perseverance, and a love of learning.
* Assess student growth through a variety of authentic methods (projects, discussions, portfolios, etc.).
* Use the Catalyst Approach to maintain a healthy learning environment for the students both academically and socially.
* Provide feedback to students and parents on a student’s progress at conferences and other meetings as necessary.
* Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from an accredited college or university.
* A valid Minnesota Teacher's License (applicable level-area endorsements preferred).
* Professional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and/or student teaching experience. Teaching experience in diverse cultural settings is valued.
