Description
SJCC Director – 260 days/8 hours a day
Full Time 260 days/8 hours a day
(This position is similar to a childcare Lead Teacher.)
I. Reporting Relationship:
The SJCC Director reports to and takes direction from the Community Education Director
II. Basic Function of the Position:
Plan and carry out activities for St. James Childcare and supervise children involved in the program Supervise SJCC Staff. Perform other duties as assigned.
III. Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:
Plan and provide enriching and age-appropriate activities to meet the needs of all children in SJCC.
Support staff in adapting activities, as needed, to allow active participation by the child/ren.
Maintain accountability and ratios during program hours and communicate staffing issues and changes to Community Education Director.
Ensures program safety guidelines on and off site. Demonstrates knowledge of site emergency plan.
Demonstrate great customer service. Greet children and families daily, when applicable.
Implement site standard accommodations for all students and train staff accordingly.
Implement a child’s health plan and/or safety plan which may include use of communication device, use of visuals, adaptive equipment, toileting, feeding and self care procedures (Example..Diabetes management, catheter cares, feeding tubes and transitioning a student to and from a wheelchair). Train staff accordingly and provide assistance to struggling staff.
Implement a child’s behavior modification plan with students who may display behaviors such as inappropriate verbal and/or physical behaviors. Train staff accordingly and provide assistance to struggling staff.
Appropriately respond to a situation involving an escalated child.
Display respect for individual differences, backgrounds, and interests by using inclusive materials and equipment.
Follow SJCC and St. James Public Schools policies and procedures.
Attend, facilitate, and actively participate in staff meetings and required professional development.
Maintain professional boundaries, a positive attitude and be a positive role model at all times.
Work cooperatively with other school personnel during school days, Non-School Days and Summer.
Assist in maintaining organization of paperwork and site needs.
Understand and maintain the centers DHS Licensure for Child Care Centers
Maintain fiscal accountability for account receivables for payments for child care services and and account payables for resources ad supplies
Work with parents and the County for child care assistance families
Advertise and hire child care staff
Complete required DHS paperwork via The HUB
Provide work schedules to staff to meet required DHS staff ratios
IV. Staff Supervisory Responsibilities:
Provide work direction, training and mentoring to all SJCC staff. Participate in the employee goal setting and evaluation process. Provide regular feedback and address performance concerns in a timely manner.
V. Education and/or Experience:
Must demonstrate aptitude for working with SJCC children.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Have at least 1,040 hours of paid or unpaid staff supervision experience
Have at least nine quarter credits or 90 hours earned in any combination of accredited courses in staff supervision, human relations, and child development.
VI. Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:
First-aid/CPR and CPI certified
SJCC Director hours will be paid at a rate of $22.17/hour and up, DOQ.
