Long-Term Substitute Band Teacher (Full-Time Starting End of October)

Location: Rockford Middle School
Position Type: Long-Term Substitute / Middle School Teaching / Music – Band (Full-Time)
Position Start: Immediately - until filled for the remainder of the year. 

Position Summary:
The Rockford Area Schools is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Band Teacher at Rockford Middle School for a teacher on Maternity Leave.  This position is Open Until Filled through the end of the school year. This full-time position will cover the band instruction for grades 5–8 during the regular school day when the regularly assigned teacher is absent for an extended period (30 days or more) per district policy. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality instrumental music instruction to middle school students (5th–8th grade).

  • Implement, maintain, and adapt existing lesson plans to advance students'' instrumental proficiency.

  • Manage classroom behavior and cultivate a respectful, productive learning environment.

  • Collaborate with fellow music staff and school leadership to support student learning.

  • Maintain accurate attendance and assessment records.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Minnesota teaching license with appropriate music/band endorsement.

  • Previous experience teaching instrumental music, especially in middle school settings.

  • Strong classroom management, instructional, and communication skills.

  • Ability to follow existing curriculum and act as a stable presence in the band program.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time schedule aligned with the standard middle school day (approximately 7:25 a.m.–2:40 p.m.) with a duty-free lunch period. 

An appropriate license issued by the State of Minnesota is required.
