Status:  Choir Teacher (0.2 FTE)
Position: Choir Teacher Middle School
Start Date:   Open until filled

Position Summary:
Rockford Area Schools seeks a Choir Teacher for a part-time (.2 FTE) role at Rockford Middle School. The choir currently meets during the half-hour BOOST period—a dedicated singing experience embedded in the middle of each student’s day (grades 5–8). We are willing to offer flexibility in scheduling and would consider arrangements less than .2 FTE for the right candidate.  The candidate would not have to work every day given the partial contract.   A schedule will be created by the selected candidate and school leadership after the position has been offered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead choir sessions during the BOOST time, engaging students in vocal music education.

  • Develop and implement creative, age-appropriate choral repertoire and instruction.

  • Foster a positive, inclusive environment encouraging students’ musical growth.

  • Coordinate with other music staff, BOOST period schedules, and school leadership.

  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate attendance and performance records.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Minnesota teaching license with choir/vocal music endorsement or comparable qualifications.

  • Experience with choral instruction at middle school or similar educational levels.

  • Flexibility to work within varied scheduling models to best support student learning.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Flexibility & Scheduling Options:

  • The standard model includes a half-hour BOOST period for grades 5-8.

  • We are open to alternative scheduling models—such as block scheduling, combined grade-level sessions, or splitting .2 FTE across multiple days.

  • Preference will be given to candidates willing to design creative scheduling solutions to maximize student access and program quality.

Application Instructions:
Submit your application through the Rockford Area Schools AppliTrack system. Please include a resume, cover letter detailing your preferred FTE model or availability, teaching license, and references. For inquiries or creative proposals regarding scheduling, contact the HR department.
