Position: Business Manager | Location: District Office |
Reports To: Superintendent | FLSA Status: Exempt |
Duty Year: 260 Days | Bargaining Unit: Individual Contract |
Salary Range: $80,000-$100,000 | Benefits Summary: ISD 485 offers a generous benefits package including: Health, Dental, Life, Vision, Short and Long Term Disability, Sick Time, Personal Days, Paid Holidays, 403b, PERA |
Job Summary: |
The Business Manager is responsible for the financial management and oversight of the district’s fiscal operations. This includes budget development, financial planning, compliance monitoring, payroll backup and reporting. The Business Manager ensures that district financial resources are managed responsibly and provides financial guidance to the Superintendent and School Board. This position oversees financial compliance and fiscal efficiency across all departments. |

Work Requirements and Characteristics: |
Education/Certification Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Additional certification in governmental accounting or school finance preferred. Experience: Minimum of three years of experience in finance, accounting, or business management, preferably in a school district setting. Experience with UFARS, MARSS, GAAP, GASB, and school district finance strongly preferred. Essential Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision making abilities to support effective financial planning; Excellent communication and presentation skills for engaging with stakeholders; Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and projects with accuracy and efficiency; Proficiency in financial software, spreadsheets, and reporting tools for budgeting, forecasting, and compliance tracking; Strong leadership and interpersonal skills for collaborating with departments across the district; Strong knowledge of UFARS, school budgeting, and state/federal legislation/funding regulations; Ability to work independently and collaboratively. |
