Willmar Public Schools is currently seeking applicants for the position of 

Student Support Specialist. 


The Student Support Specialist plays a key role in fostering a positive and safe learning environment by implementing proactive behavior management techniques. This role supports the classroom and other learning settings by managing student behaviors and ensuring a supportive atmosphere for all students. The Student Support Specialist also assists in recording and implementing each student’s educational plan to meet their 

unique learning needs.

Qualifications Required

  • Highly Qualified Status (Two year degree or higher, 60 college credits toward a degree, or a passing score on the MN approved ParaEducator exam (offered upon hire within the district))

  • Basic child development educational background or knowledge preferred

  • Willingness to work with and show respect for students.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Demonstrated communication skills, patience, and flexibility.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Ability to follow the teacher''s plan and direction, and communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
