Special Education Teacher
Cook County is located in the northeast corner of Minnesota in the Superior National Forest, along the beautiful north shore of Lake Superior. Our close-knit staff is full of exceptional people providing excellent educational services to a diverse student body. We are currently looking for a motivated educator who believes all children can achieve targeted growth goals regardless of race or economic status. Extra-curricular opportunities available as well.
Job Summary:
- Work collaboratively with general education and special services team members to support the needs of students.
- Serve as an IEP case manager for assigned caseload.
- Represent the District appropriately throughout the process of identification and evaluation.
- Collaborate with team members to design, coordinate, and deliver appropriate interventions and support to children with disabilities.
- Work cooperatively with general education teachers and staff and provide building consultation, support and training as needed.
- Participate in regular Collaborative Team meetings as an active and engaged professional.
- Maintain due process paperwork according to District, State, and Federal guidelines.
- Communicate frequently with parents, colleagues, children, and administrators through all available means of technology.
- Participate in building and District level professional development activities.
- Establish and maintain high standards for the learning experiences of children.
Qualifications:
- Current Minnesota Special Education Teaching License required.
- Due process expertise preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate meaningful discourse throughout the child find, evaluation, and IEP process.
- Experience working directly with students in an early childhood setting preferred.
- Understand and maintain boundaries and confidentiality with students, families and staff.
- Effective task and time management skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in collaboration and problem-solving.
- Experience with curriculum, assessment, intervention, and accommodation design.
- Understanding of the role of parent involvement and the ability to collaborate with parents.
- Ability to use technology as needed.
Additional Duties:
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment
- Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Work Schedule
- Standard teacher work schedule as set forth in the Teachers'' Unit Contract.
Compensation & Benefits:
- $46,000 - $89,000 salary per the CCEA contract
- $7,100/$18,250 health insurance benefit
- 403b, life insurance, paid leave, and longevity
