Job Summary: 
  • Implement best practice teaching and learning strategies into content area.
  • Conduct large-group rehearsals and prepare students for musical performances.
  • Maximize time available for small-group sectional lessons in order to develop individual students’ musical capabilities to their fullest potential.
  • Lead, organize, and conduct numerous jazz, pep, marching, honor, and competition-related band groups.
  • Work collaboratively with K-12 team members to support not only the musical, but also social and emotional growth of high school students.
  • Collaborate with other teachers to design and coordinate common assessments and utilize data to target student needs.
  • Participate in regular PLC meetings as an active and engaged professional.
  • Communicate frequently with parents, colleagues, students, and administrators through all available means of technology.
  • Establish and maintain high standards for character growth.
 
Qualifications
  • Current Minnesota Teaching License required.
  • High level of content expertise required.
  • Demonstrated ability to support performance, critical thinking, and meaningful discourse in the content area.
  • Experience working with high school students preferred.
  • Effective band rehearsal and lesson management skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaboration and problem-solving.
  • Experience with curriculum and assessment design.
  • Understanding of the role of parent involvement and the ability to collaborate with parents.
  • Ability to use technology as an instructional tool.
 
Bargaining Group and Level:  Orono Education Association/Teachers
Long-Term          30-86 Days         
COMPENSATION - BA Step 1
FULL-TIME: BA Step 1 ($267.75/day)
PART-TIME: Prorated to FTE
INSURANCE
Insurance not provided.
RETIREMENT/PENSION
Positions covered by Minnesota Teachers Retirement Association (TRA)
