Irondale High School is seeking a Head Varsity Girls Sprints Coach to lead and develop our sprints program within a large and competitive track and field team. This role is ideal for a motivated coach who is passionate about athlete development, program building, and leading a high-participation team.

Responsibilities:

• Report to Head Coach

• Design and implement a 12-week sprint training program that prepares athletes for success throughout the season.

• Differentiate training plans for varsity and junior varsity athletes to meet a wide range of ability levels.

• Manage and organize daily practices for a program of 80+ student-athletes, with the support of two to three assistant coaches.

• Lead practice planning, ensuring sessions are structured, efficient, and engaging.

• Adjust training and practice schedules in response to weather-related challenges while maintaining program consistency.

• Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that emphasizes growth, commitment, and sportsmanship.

Qualifications:

• Must have competed at the varsity level in high school track & field (sprints).

• College track experience strongly preferred.

• Demonstrated experience coaching sprints, including planning and implementing sprint-specific training.

• Proven ability to lead and manage large groups of student-athletes in a team setting.

• Strong organizational and communication skills.
