Academic Success Tutor ~ supporting American Indian Education Plan

Rate: $23/hour

Schedule: 12 hours per week, up to 30 weeks

Position Description
The Academic Success Tutor will provide direct academic support to American Indian students in grades K–9 through one-on-one and small-group instruction. This role focuses on addressing individual student needs, strengthening academic skills, and supporting overall student success. Tutors will work closely with classroom teachers to identify learning gaps, clarify concepts, and help students build confidence in their learning.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience as a licensed educator, in teacher preparation, or actively pursuing a degree in education (preferred)

• Demonstrated passion for helping students learn and offering multiple approaches to support understanding

• Confidence in supporting targeted curriculum areas where students need additional help in the subjects of math and reading

• Strong knowledge of student learning styles and academic needs

• Understanding of cultural diversity in education, with a particular emphasis on Indigenous cultures

• Ability to organize effectively and maintain accurate documentation

• Strong listening, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills

• Positive, encouraging, and motivational approach when supporting students

• Flexibility in scheduling to meet program needs

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with classroom teachers to identify student learning gaps in grades K–9

• Provide individualized or small-group instruction tailored to student needs

• Support students in developing academic skills, problem-solving strategies, and confidence

• Utilize technology tools effectively in tutoring sessions

• Maintain accurate records of student progress and tutoring sessions
