Location: Lakes International Language Academy – Upper School
Reports To: Principal
Functional Supervision: Principal’s Administrative Assistant

Work Schedule:

  • School-year position following the student calendar
     

  • Hours: 9:00am-3:00pm
     

  • Schedule may vary on school holidays, professional development days, or special events.
     

  • Summer hours may be available.
     

Hourly Wage: $17.00 – $20.00

Position Purpose

The Front Desk Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for students, families, staff, and visitors. This role requires a warm, professional demeanor, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage a variety of responsibilities with efficiency and accuracy. As a representative of LILA’s values and International Baccalaureate (IB) principles, the receptionist helps foster a positive, respectful, and globally minded school culture.

 


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist visitors, students, and staff with a welcoming, helpful attitude
     

  • Manage visitor check-in and follow school safety/access protocols
     

  • Answer and direct incoming calls, take messages, and respond to general inquiries
     

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front office environment
     

  • Assign substitutes to vacant positions and ensure they have necessary materials and information (full-time responsibility)
     

  • Receive and distribute mail, deliveries, and packages
     

  • Monitor student arrivals and dismissals, including sign-in/out during the school day
     

  • Provide administrative support to the Principal and Administrative Assistant
     

  • Assist with data entry and student record maintenance
     

  • Support school-wide communications as directed
     

  • Demonstrate professionalism in setting the tone of the front office
     

  • Contribute to LILA’s Commitment to Belonging
     

 


Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
     

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
     

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
     

  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing needs during the school day
     

  • Problem-solving skills and resourcefulness
     

  • Proficiency with computers and standard office software
     

  • Punctual, reliable, and professional in appearance and demeanor
     

  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and cultural competence
     

 


Desired Attributes

  • Previous experience in administration, reception, or customer service
     

  • Familiarity with school operations or front office procedures
     

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Calendar)
     

  • Bilingual skills in Spanish or Mandarin
     

 


Working Conditions

  • Fast-paced school office with frequent interruptions
     

  • Regular use of phones, computers, and standard office equipment
     

  • Occasional lifting of supplies (up to 20 lbs)
     

  • Frequent interaction with students, families, and staff
