School Social Worker
Minnesota Valley Education District (MVED) is seeking two qualified School Social Workers to join our team. These positions will support students and school communities within Cleveland Public Schools and St. Clair Public Schools, with work locations based at those sites.
Job Summary:
Provide comprehensive support to students and staff, helping students function effectively within the school environment. These positions will collaborate with school teams, families, and community partners to address students'' social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Share community resources and agency information with staff and families.
- Act as liaison between parents/family and schools, including conducting home visits as needed.
- Support all students in the area of social, emotional, and behavioral development.
- Provide trauma-informed support to students, families, and school teams.
- Deliver crisis intervention and prevention services to students and staff.
- Maintain student files, required district documentation, and accurate data collection related to services provided.
- Maintain data collection on support services provided to students.
- Assist in designing and shaping behavioral interventions in relation to mental health in collaboration with the behavior analyst.
- Provide staff development and training for paraprofessionals as requested by district administration.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Minnesota Statutes related to behavior supports (i.e. CPI, PCM, and other required supports).
- Adhere to the professional standards of the Minnesota Board of Social Work and the Minnesota School Social Workers Association.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications (Education, License, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):
- Minnesota licensure as a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) / Minnesota Licensure as a School Social Worker
- Background and training in trauma-informed schools and practices
- Strong knowledge of community resources and agencies to support students and families
- Reliable, prompt, and regular attendance
- Ability to communicate with students, parents, staff, administrators, and community partners
- Demonstrated appreciation of diversity in all interactions and job responsibilites
