1. Staff Supervision and Instructional Leadership
Conduct informal walkthroughs and formal observations of special education classrooms and IEP meetings
Provide coaching, feedback, and written evaluations aligned with district procedures
Review due process documentation and ensure compliance with IDEA and state regulations
Lead performance appraisals and post-observation conferences
Facilitate progressive discipline when needed
Supervise and support paraprofessionals, ensuring effective student support
Model instructional practices that align with specialized instruction and IEP goals
2. Federal Funds and Budget Oversight
Collaborate with district leaders on the use of federal special education funds
Make recommendations regarding staffing, curriculum purchases, and tuition billing
Monitor Maintenance of Effort (MOE) and ensure fiscal compliance
Manage special education budget development and reporting
3. Staffing and Program Support
Lead staffing decisions for licensed and non-licensed personnel
Analyze student needs and caseload data to inform staff reallocation
Support job description development, candidate screening, and hiring
Oversee the assignment and reassignment of paraprofessionals
Plan and supervise Extended School Year (ESY) programming
4. Compliance, Due Process, and Discipline
Serve as the administrative designee at IEP meetings, with authority to commit district resources
Advise building administrators on discipline involving students with disabilities
Ensure procedural safeguards and discipline-related compliance
Monitor and address areas of risk that could lead to complaints or litigation
5. District Collaboration and Leadership
Represent special education on district-level leadership teams
Foster positive relationships with building principals and district departments
Communicate proactively with families and staff to build trust and resolve concerns
Qualifications
Valid Minnesota Director of Special Education license required
Master’s degree in special education or related field
Minimum 5 years of experience in special education leadership
Strong knowledge of IDEA, state regulations, and due process requirements
Experience in staff supervision and evaluation
Demonstrated ability to lead collaboratively and make data-informed decisions

Pay Based on Admin Coordinator Contract
$105,599 - $122,418
Pro-rated days based on 220 day contract for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year - Princeton School District
