Opening: MNVA K-8 Dean of Students
 
MNVA has a need for a full-time K-8 Dean of Students beginning immediately.
 
Position Summary
The Dean of Students provides leadership and oversight for student life, student conduct, and support services to promote a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. This role focuses on student well-being, discipline, engagement, and collaboration with faculty, staff, families, and community partners to ensure student success. Position will report to Principal.
 
Key Responsibilities
Student Support & Well-Being
  • Lead and oversee student support services, including counseling, wellness initiatives, and crisis response
  • Advocate for student needs and ensure equitable access to resources
  • Monitor student attendance, behavior, and engagement, implementing interventions as needed
Student Conduct & Discipline
  • Develop, implement, and enforce student conduct policies in alignment with institutional values
  • Address behavioral concerns using restorative and educational practices
  • Lead investigations and resolution of student conduct issues when necessary
Student Engagement & Leadership
  • Support student organizations, leadership development, and co-curricular programs
  • Promote a positive campus or school culture that fosters respect, responsibility, and belonging
  • Encourage student voice and participation in institutional decision-making
Collaboration & Communication
  • Partner with academic leadership, faculty, advisors, and staff to support student success
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and external stakeholders
  • Serve on institutional leadership teams and committees
Policy Development & Compliance
  • Develop and review student-related policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and institutional standards
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to student affairs
Crisis Management
  • Participate in crisis response and threat assessment teams
  • Provide leadership during emergencies affecting students
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Master''s degree in Education or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Certifications: Current Minnesota licenses in school administration (principal or Director of Special Education) as required.
  •  Strong knowledge of special education laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  •  Proficiency in conducting assessments and interpreting evaluation results.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Familiarity with online learning platforms and educational technology.
