Start Your Online Application Now Date of Availability: 08/17/2026 Date Closing: 05/22/2026 Location: Sleepy Eye Public Schools (K-12) Reports To: Elementary and High School Principals Position Type: Full-Time, Licensed Position Summary Sleepy Eye Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate DCD Teacher to provide specialized instruction and case management for DCD students across K-12. The successful candidate will develop and implement individualized programming focused on functional academics, social-emotional growth, communication, and independent living skills. Essential Duties & Responsibilities IEP Management: Act as Case Manager for students with DCD; facilitate IEP meetings, conduct evaluations, and ensure all due process paperwork meets Minnesota state and federal compliance standards. Instructional Leadership: Design and deliver modified, research-based curriculum tailored to students'' unique cognitive and adaptive needs. Maintains an appropriate learning environment that is equitable, inclusive, safe, and developmentally appropriate. Life Skills Training: Teach essential daily living skills, including hygiene, community participation, and vocational readiness where applicable. Behavioral Support: Develop and implement Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP) or Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), and provide crisis intervention when necessary. Collaboration: Supervise and direct classroom paraprofessionals; consult with general education teachers to support inclusive opportunities. Collaborate with other special education staff through PLCs and other meetings. Communication: Maintain frequent, transparent communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress and transitions. Professional Development: Continue to acquire professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops, or conferences to stay up to date on current developments in the educational field related to the scope of this DCD teacher position Qualifications & Requirements Licensure: Valid Minnesota Teaching License in Developmental Disabilities (DD) or Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD) . Candidates with an Academic Behavioral Strategist (ABS) license will be accepted if eligible for an out-of-field permission (OFP). Driver''s license or ability to obtain transportation to work Education: Bachelor''s Degree in Special Education or a related field (Master''s degree preferred). Experience: Successful prior special education (DCD) teaching experience in K-12 preferred Skills: * Proficiency in Special Education software (e.g., SpEd Forms). Ability to perform "difficult professional work" which may include intervention in severe behaviors, lifting up to 50 lbs and assisting with physical needs. Certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or willingness to be trained.
