We take pride in being a multicultural community of students and staff committed to educating the whole person - mind, body and will - for peace, justice, freedom, compassion, wholeness and fullness of life for all. We are seeking a 6-12 Music Teacher and High School Academy Choir Director. Class sizes are approximately 25. The size of the choir has varied from thirty to as high as sixty singers throughout the years. Music electives at the high school have included Bell/Orff Ensemble, Academy Choir and Music Appreciation. The qualified applicant will hold a Minnesota Teaching license in K-12 Music and will have demonstrated successful experience in music education. He or she will also possess the ability to develop rapport with learners of diverse backgrounds, and demonstrate an unyielding commitment to helping all students attain high academic and ethical standards of performance. At Community of Peace Academy we focus upon the education of the whole person; mind, body and will. To this end, we place a high priority on offering music, art and physical education classes at all grade levels. We implement Responsive Classroom and Developmental Designs across all grade levels and subject areas. We also implement the PeaceBuilders program in grades Pre-K to eight. Training is offered to all new staff in Responsive Classroom and Developmental Designs, and fellow staff members will assist you in implementing PeaceBuilders. In addition, new teachers are assigned a Mentor for their first year of employment at CPA, and all teachers are supported in their professional growth through weekly PLCs and frequent observation and coaching.
