Summary : Join a building that supports 800+ learners in grades K-6. The Behavior Support Specialist directly supports staff and learners through problem-solving, crisis support, plan implementation, and modeling of proactive behavior supports. Key Responsibilities: Behavior Assessment: Conducts Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) to identify the root causes of behavioral issues. Plan Development & Implementation: Creates and implements individualized behavior support plans focusing on positive interventions. Direct Support & Modeling: Works directly with individuals, providing in-the-moment coaching to staff, teachers, or parents on behavioral techniques. Data Collection & Documentation: Monitors progress, documents behavior incidents, and analyzes data to adjust interventions. Crisis Intervention: Responds to crisis situations with de-escalation techniques to ensure safety. This person will be a main part of behavior response and the behavior crisis team. Collaboration: Works with multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistent support and implementation. Key Attributes: Strong communication skills, patience, emotional resilience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Knowledge of effective practices, both proactive and reactive, to support learner growth in the area of behavior and communication challenges.
