Position: Special Education Teacher - Bridging to Independence Program (Ages 18-22) 1.0 FTE Location: Special Education Setting-4 Center-Based Program Start Date: August 24, 2026 (or as negotiated) Salary and Benefits: $47,598 - $90,420 (Pay and benefits follow the Education Minnesota Rock Ridge Local #7394 Collective Bargaining Agreement - available at www.rrps.org.) Position Overview: Rock Ridge Public Schools is seeking a licensed Special Education Teacher to lead the Bridging to Independence Program serving students ages 18-22 with disabilities who require continued transition programming after completing high school coursework. The program focuses on developing independent living, employment, and community participation skills to support successful adult outcomes. The teacher will provide specialized instruction aligned with students'' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and transition goals while coordinating community-based learning opportunities and collaborating with families, staff, and community agencies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Provide specialized instruction in transition-focused special education program for students ages 18-22. * Develop and implement IEPs, transition plans, and measurable goals in compliance with IDEA and Minnesota Special Education Rules. * Teach functional academic, vocational, and independent living skills. * Coordinate community-based instruction, work experiences, and vocational training opportunities. * Collaborate with Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS), community agencies, and local employers to support employment outcomes. * Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals and provide required progress reporting. * Supervise and collaborate with paraprofessionals assigned to the program. * Participate in IEP meetings, transition planning meetings, and multidisciplinary team meetings. * Maintain accurate special education due process documentation. * Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: * Valid Minnesota Special Education teaching license issued by the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB). * Knowledge of IDEA, Minnesota Special Education Rules, and transition planning requirement. * Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, families, staff and community partners. Preferred Qualifications: * Experience working with young adults with disabilities ages 18-22. * Experience with transition programming, work-based learning, or vocational training. * Knowledge of person-centered planning and independent living instruction.
