6-12 GRADE MUSIC INSTRUCTOR
Grades 6–12
POSITION STATUS: Full-time
START DATE: 2026-2027 school year
COMPENSATION: $41,400–$69,700 based on experience

Serving the Forest Lake and surrounding areas since 1999, North Lakes Academy provides a personalized learning environment designed to meet a wide variety of academic needs. With strong core subjects and a full complement of liberal arts courses, NLA provides quality learning in a responsive learning atmosphere. Currently, we operate an elementary campus (grades K–6) and a secondary campus (grades 7–12), serving approximately 405 students.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
North Lakes Academy is seeking a dynamic and passionate music educator to join our team for grades 6–12. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality music instruction in general music, instrumental, and vocal performance, fostering student growth, and supporting a positive and inclusive school culture.
The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop their musical abilities, collaborate with staff, and contribute to school performances and events while maintaining a structured and engaging classroom environment aligned with state and national music standards.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field
Valid teaching license in Instrumental Music/Band
Strong knowledge of music theory, instrumental techniques, and vocal instruction
Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff
Strong classroom management and organizational skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to pass a background check and meet school district/state requirements
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Vocal/Choir license or certification
Experience teaching middle and high school band and choir
Experience working with diverse student populations
Ability to integrate technology and modern teaching methods into music instruction
Experience leading extracurricular music activities such as ensembles or clubs
Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead and instruct band and choir classes for grades 7–12
Develop and deliver engaging instruction in instrumental performance, vocal skills, and music theory
Plan and organize rehearsals, concerts, and school performances
Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment
Collaborate with colleagues to support the overall music program and school community
Encourage student creativity, participation, and appreciation for music
