Head Dance Coach (26-27) - St. James Public Schools - ISD#840 St. James Public Schools Stipend: $4,153 Season: Winter Purpose To instruct dancers in the fundamental skills, choreography, technique, and physical conditioning necessary to achieve individual and team success. To promote responsibility, strong work ethic, teamwork, sportsmanship, self-discipline, leadership, and self-confidence through participation in dance. Summary The Head Dance Coach coordinates all aspects of the dance program, including training and instruction of student-athletes, choreography development, competition preparation, and maintaining practice and performance schedules. The coach ensures compliance with all school, conference, and MSHSL policies and represents St. James Public Schools and the community in a professional manner. The Head Dance Coach reports directly to the High School Activities Director. Essential Responsibilities Develop and oversee all aspects of the dance program. Apply knowledge of dance technique, choreography, performance standards, and competition rules to maximize student potential. Develop routines appropriate for skill level and competition standards. Foster positive team culture, spirit, and morale. Teach proper technique, safety, and performance quality. Maintain discipline in a firm, fair, and supportive manner. Plan and conduct structured, purposeful practices and rehearsals. Supervise and effectively utilize assistant coaches. Adhere to district budget procedures. Manage costumes, equipment, and music resources. Support and develop a feeder program aligned with district activities. Collaborate with the Activities Director on staffing and scheduling. Evaluate assistant coaches. Communicate effectively with students, families, and the community. Establish and articulate a clear dance program philosophy. Keep stakeholders informed regarding schedules, expectations, and updates. Provide regular updates to the Activities Director on program status. Ensure compliance with MSHSL, conference, and district policies. Coordinate and lead post-season recognition events.
